"I find the irony expressed within any art work crucial, as it is intrigue and curiosity that initially draw the viewer to a piece, along with aesthetic appeal of course. I’ve always centered my practice around experimentation; utilising different materials and ideas, and seeing how far I can push them, ‘alchemising’ them to create something beautiful and long lasting. Ideally playing with and connecting opposites. For example, the natural vs the man-made, the vibrantly coloured vs the blank and derelict, the generically beautiful vs the grotesque. Disparity is crucial to intrigue, considering how much contrasting figures can alter a space, simply by being there.

There is a certain permanence found in metal that differs from any other material. When thinking of metal, one thinks of something hard, much like you associate cotton with softness. I like to completely take metal out of this stereotypical context and instead create beautifully intricate forms using metal, there’s a certain trenchancy in looking at a form which is generally associated with being soft, made in a completely unwonted material."
